Telehealth
The world has become a fast pace and increasingly unpredictable environment. At times due to schedules, traffic, disabilities or pandemics, making it to your therapist’s office is simply not realistic. In this uncertain world the advent of phones and computers allows you to have access to therapy from the comfort of your home or a quiet place of your choice.
Telehealth
Online therapy, formally known as Telehealth, refers to the utilization of technological devices to remotely connect with your provider.
Is online therapy for me?
Online therapeutic services can be very pragmatic, and many people can benefit from their use. If you live in an area where transportation is difficult or have mobility issues online therapy may be quite practical. Online services can also benefit busy professionals, parents strapped for time, and any other number of reasons you may have for wanting services to be provided remotely. Global events such as the current pandemic can also be a reason why you would seek online services. Telehealth services are provided via a secure online platform.
Online services however do have some unique challenges. Usually online services are not recommended in situations of crisis or when the client’s presenting issues are higher risk. If a client needs extensive support or is experiencing crisis, online services may not be recommended. Additionally, online services rely on having access to technology and/or internet access. Clients who do not have access to these would likely be unable to participate in online services.
